CHANGES TO OPERATION OF PA UNITS, 51 CLASS
Because of numerous failures it is not possible to run these units in 3 unit sets with identical numbers and be efficient. It is also the desire of the operating department to allow these units to be broken up on various secondary trains and they don’t want these engines to show up on different trains with the same number. Therefore, PA units 51B to 62B shall be renumbered 63L to 69L.
CHICAGO POOL SHORTAGES
Steam engines shall be used to substitute for diesels when needed. Eastern Lines can also use EMD FT units 160, 161, or 165LABC as needed before they are re-geared and set up for freight service.
